Bao Jing Gong Ecological Tourism Resort
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Welcome you to visit Bao Jing Gong ecological tourism resort!
Bao Jing Gong Palace was discovered in 1981and was officially opened to the outside world in 1984. It is known for its landscape, consisting of spectacular mountains, charming water, grotesque stones and Taoist culture. It enjoys a reputation of the most charming cave in Lingnan. In 1989, it was listed as provincial-level scenic spot and recognized as 4A national-level ecological tourism resort in 2009. The reason why it named Bao Jing Gong Palace is that it looks like a magnificent palace under the earth, with its unique landscape and beautiful scenery. The three words inscribed in the cliff, saying Bao Jing Gong in Chinese, was written by a famous master of painting and calligraphy, by the name of Guan Shanyue. The scenic area is made of limestone cave, green cave, Swan Lake, colorful flower seaa nd snowy cave. The total area of this cave reaches 30,000 square meters, with1,500 kilometers in all, taking up 90 minutes to go over it.
Now we enter the cave and visit the guardian lion standing in front of the entrance. It named guests greeting lion, and has been here for tens of millions of years, with a big smiling face and courteous bow waiting for you.
The unique Bao Jing Gong Palace, with its marvelous interior construction, was divided into three floors. When you’re in the cave you’ll obviously feel that the temperature inside the cave differs from outdoor. What’s more, the first floor keeps a constant temperature of 18℃all year round; temperature of the second floor is as same as outdoor; the third floor is a warm cave which is at a constant temperature of about 24℃.Different climate happened in the same cave, is very rare in domestic.
Here we come to a hall, on the top of this hall is a flat and spacious rock,in laying countless dainty stalactites which called stalactites crystallizationin geomorphology.
Then we’re going through a stone forest corridor, with 100 meters in all, there’re numerous stalactites on its both sides.
All right, here we can see groups of graceful stone flowers, the most precious treasure inside the cave. Behind these stone flowers, plenty of holes in different sizes connecting one to others, such phenomenon is comparatively rare in limestone cave. Let look at those stone flowers in the water, which displaying on crystal and clear, and it looks like a blooming flower under the light. Are you curious about how it formed? Listen to me, it formed as blooming flowers by falling water on the top of the cave, at the same time, when the water falling down, the calcium containing in the water promoted it formed wider. So it named as Bao Gong Qiong Lei.
Here we reach the last attraction in stone forest corridor ---turtle cave. Turtle is one of four spirits (dragon, wind, kylin, tortoise) according to traditional Chinese, and it is a symbol of longevity. Meanwhile, turtle is believed to be very spiritual, it would wish you longevity and health by silently nodding its head when seeing guests from afar.
Now we enter the first hall in the first floor. This hall named the Dragon king palace which is the smallest of its size of the six halls we’re going to visit in Bao Jing Gong. It covers an area of 2000 square meters with the highest point reaches more than 30 meters.
In front of us is the half moon-shape stone arch, which served as water outlet to the underground river of the cave once. The arch shaped into moon-shape after along period of erosion, due to the great force when the seawater spouting out. Does it look like a rainbow through across the sky? Yes, it names Gate of Rainbow. Going through this gate, we will enter the largest hall of the first floor.
This hall called Penglai Palace, covering an area of more than 3000 square meters with the highest point about 40 meters. With the comparatively low temperature and its beautiful scenery, it makes you arein a fairyland. There are three limestone peaks piled up into a peak, according to legend, the most unique is that occasionally there will be a mirages, thus it is referred to as the "Penglai islets"
Righti n front of us there is a hill, it looks like a silvery small mountain underthe light, together with a layer of snow, shape like Japan Fuji Mountain. To have a look of the hill, you can see a cluster of stalactite looks like a Yun He, with long and white feathers and a long mouth. It attaches to the beautiful scenery of the snow hill, thus was named Yun He in snow hill.
Right behind the broad cliff is an ancient forest with unique scenery and oddly shape,it looks like boundless woodland planted with ancient trees.
As the biggest hall in Bao Jing Gong, Penglai Palace is known for its featuring scenery reflected in the water. It’s reputed as the biggest and the most beautiful reflection in the water in China. Five major attractions were reflecting in the water, including Fo Zhu ling which on behalf of fortunate and happiness; magical weapon of Sun wukong; waterfall cave and Hua Guoshan.
Doyou pay attention to that stone pillar? It named flying pillar. It presents glittering as inlaid with a string of pearls or silvers, hanging over the air. Andit shaped into an exclamation mark, giving people an eye-opening look at uncanny workmanship of natural design.
Over there is the cliff. Signs of life are visible now by the red flowers, verdant and green trees and brightly sunshine setting of the lights.
Along the stairs, we come to the third hall, Jade Emperor Palace. It covers an area about 2000 square meters, reaching 20 meters high. It is also the only floor with the lowest-lying, the largest amount of water seepage and the most abundant air humidity in Bao Jing Gong Palace.
The stalactites in Bao Jing Gong are in different postures and manners. Look at there, these rocks shaped like a group of elephants that are splashing about inthe pond. So this sight named Paddle Elephants.
Now let’s go to visit a fairy and mind the rocks over your head. The huge rock infront of us is Maitreya Buddha. It is not difficult to recognize him, as he always wears a big smile. So I wish you happy and smile as him in everyday.
BaoJing Gong is a limestone cave not only with highly ornamental value, but also has highly scientific and archaeological value. In May 1996, three researchers came to here, including Professor Mr. Zhang from Department of Anthropology in Zhongshan University and associate professor QiuLijian from Archaeological Institute of Guangdong Province and workers from Cultural Relics Museum of Qingyuan city. They discovered 8 pieces of gravel stone which were evidences to prove that these chipped stones tools dating back about ten thousand years ago in accordance with its ornamental design and processing methods as well as its geographic height. They are of great scientific value and practical significance of this finding, and it also proves that there existed ancient human in Yingde at least 100,000 years ago. Meanwhile,in 128,000 years ago the Maba Man fossils have been found in the north of Guangdong Provincein Qujiang district; together with the rock cave fossils were found 149,000years ago in Fengkai in Western Guangdong. Moreover,it also provides important materials for the study of historical development of ancient human living from the mountains to the plains near Beijiang River district.
In front of us is an odd shape stone pillar, does it shape like a teapot? This is a kettle mouth, the kettle body, a kettle handle, a kettle cover, but the inside is filled with a specialty in Yingde Black Tea. The most unusual is this natural carp Sculpture, which called the carp jade teapot.
Now we back to the second hall Penglai Palace, now you can closely watch the waterfall cave and Hua Guo Shan.
We look at this large pillar, to support the second or third floor of this cave rely on it. The perimeter of the pillar about 22 meters, so if you want to surround it, at least need 13 people whose height reaches more than l.70 meters.
Here we come to the junction between the first hall and the second hall. This stone arch named as Longmen, it also means the door of triumph. Look at your right side, a stalactite looks like a carp, was about to jump out of the Longmen. TheTang Dynasty poet Li Bai once said, “You will gain a lot after going through the Longmen”. So I wish all your wishes come true after across it.
Now we have finished visit the first floor. Then after climbing 208 stairs we’ll arrive at the second floor. Here in the second floor there is a large natural platform available that can accommodate 100 people. Let’s have a rest for 15minutes.
Now we are in the second floor. It is the most smallest of its kinds among three floors inside the cave. But it is the only cave with a hole, and this hole is believed to be the evidence that people found it.
Then we are going to visit the third floor. The stalactites here are more spectacular and magnificent. Let’s walk through this Qingyun Road, and then warm cave is in front of us.
Now let’s appreciate the splendid scenery of warm cave. Over there is another platform, the main hall of warm cave surrounded by numerous stalactites. Here is also the place where dragon king hold meetings and his daughter throw an embroidery ballto choose a husband.
Through Qingyun Bridge, we come to the imperial garden. Look at the stalactites which looks like a phoenix engraved with jade. Around them there is a group of stone forest, displaying shining and white, named Yu ShuHan Lin.
Through Imperial Garden,we come to the last hall in the third floor—Heavenly Palace. The total area of Heavenly Palace is 4050 square meters and its highest point reaches 105 meters. The most unique in this hall is this huge slope, called Huihua slope in geomorphology, it is 90 meters long, 45meters wide, with aslant height of 30 degrees. Such gigantic slope is rare in domestic. On our right side, you can see a unique scenic spots, known as Yao Chi QianZhao. Hundreds of millions of years ago, due to water erosion of rock insidethe cave, it finally formed as an irregular ring dam. It is not obvious to see,but in great importance value of geomorphology, called "Bian Shi ba".
Alongthe road let’s enjoy the wonderful view of the rock here, it seems as a flyinghawk spreads its wings. Numerous stalactites in different sizes distribute allover the ground, so it called Basin contains of treasures.
Infront of us stands a stone tower, it shapes tall and straight, called Leifeng Pagoda. The tower is much smaller compared to the one in Hangzhou, but also has highly artistic value with its marvelous shape.
Here we come to a splendid attraction created by Bian Shi Ba, it seems like a waterfall.
Along the way, we come to a small hall of the third floor. This scene is called small leopard, because it is a very much like the small leopard rock. Through the narrow door, we are on a tortuous course named winding corridor. Then we up to the immortal cave, here you can enjoy the artistic conception "Every cloud has a silver lining" in person.
Here we come to the last hall in Bao Jing Gong. Look at the spectacular rampart which proved that Bao Jing Gong is a cave formed by various external forces.
Please have a look at this hill, you’ll find it looks like a group of fairies standing on the top of the hill and saying goodbye to you.
Ladies and gentlemen, your visit here in Bao Jing Gong Palace is come into an end. But you may free to visit another cave rich in historical and cultural remains, by the name of Green Cave.
Green Cave is listed as a Provincial-Level Key Culture Relics Protection Unit, located on the south part of Bao Jing Gong. As one of the original site of Taoist in Guangdong Province,Green Cave has always been an attraction to famous people since the ancient time. Say, in Eastern Jin Dynasty, a famous Taoist Ge Hong has been here; Liu Sheng, the king southern Han Dynasty established his imperial residential palace in the foot of this mountain; in Tang Dynasty, ZhouXie visited here and wrote a well-known poem; In Song Dynasty, poet Su Dongpo came to here, was attracted by its beautiful scenery and has written a poem named Green Cave.
Thanks for your cooperation and wish you have a happy journey!
